Thought a painting of aspen would be a fun play for
foreground vs background, turning some negative space into possible foreground. Also thought the tree bark patterns and branches would play well with my stained glass painting style.

Having studied both Biology and Environmental Management in college, though not degreed in the fields, I have always been concerned about vanishing species. Frogs are extremely vulnerable to contaminants and are indeed vanishing. I often incorporate eyes to represent wildlife ‘looking at us’ for salvation. I also am extremely intrigued by animal’s use of mimicked eye patterns as a self defense against predators.

Always been intrigued by dragonflies. Their wings seemed a perfect canvas to work in my stained glass style and to incorporate eyes within. Also wanted create a surrounding environment that I could segment and play with weather and times of day/night.

This painting is based on a photo I took at Callaway Gardens in Georgia. I thought both the tree’s bark pattern and the wing segments were naturals for my stained glass style that’s been my primary focus for the last 15 years; a style I first started dabbling with in college. The photo did not include anything but the front tree and the butterfly. Started thinking how the segments on the wings somewhat reminded of shafts of light beaming through a canopy. I tried to create light beams that resembled the butterfly’s wings.

This painting is based on a charcoal drawing I did in college and was the second in what’s become a recurring them of either eyes as the ‘focus’ of the work or an incorporated element.. Didn’t start out with the eye intended but as I drew the shell opening couldn’t help but notice its eye shape. I also incorporated the radiating lines to mimic the scallop lines.

Love birds of prey. Since childhood I’ve been drawing and painting owls, hawks and eagles. This painting is a rework of what I originally did as oil pastels on canvas over a solid background. When I reimagined it in my stained glass style with a night sky and trees it took off. One of my best selling prints.

If interested in buying my art, whether original or reproductions, please contact me. Long term goal is to set up online sales and inventory. May take a while.
All my original works are framed. Some of the frames are very heavy so until I can automate my gallery pricing and shipping I will probably have to do custom price and shipping quotes
(depending on 'ship to' location).
I do have several framed reproductions as well, hope to eventually link photos of all available reproductions as framed, for now if you would like to see framing pics, let me know.
Unframed reproductions will be shipped in poster tubes.
While I do not have prints of all my work in stock I do have a lot, and with at least a week or two turnaround I can get to the print shop and get reproductions printed.
The prints are available in their original size and most can be printed smaller as well. Let me know what you are interested in.
